The Horse, Backstreet Choppers

The Horse Backstreet Choppers

December 2009 / January 2010

Walk into any retailer that sells motorcycle magazines and you’re going to find a wide variety that cover everything from scooters to high-end customs.  Most are more fluff than anything and the advertisements in a lot of the magazines drowned out the real content, little as it is in some magazines.  Don’t get me wrong, I still buy them but I’m selective and only buy the magazines that have something I find relevant to me.  In other words I don’t subscribe to any one magazine.  That will change in 2010.

Over the past couple of years I’ve bought just about every issue of The Horse, Backstreet Choppers magazine and I’ve reached the point where I anticipate every issue.  Why?  Well, the motorcycles that they show are customs that I like and are built in garages just like mine by people with like tastes and who don’t have thousands of dollars to spend to have someone else build their bike.  The motorcycles are also built to be ridden.  The magazine doesn’t restrict the content to a particular brand or style of motorcycle just as long as something’s been chopped off the bike and it’s a daily ride and not something that gets trailered from one show to the next.  The editorials are entertaining and don't give a damn about political correctness, which in itself is refreshing.

Anyway, since I’m buying every issue anyway its time to subscribe.  I’m sure that there may be one or two issues that won’t have any motorcycles I like but the monthly cover girl will still make those issues well worth the money and the wait.
